In the 1940 ‘s the Matadero Carrasco was established. It was able to face adversities and cross over frontiers, due to its strong tradition of effort and hard work. Soon, it envolved into one of the most important meat processing companies in Uruguay, being a pioneer in this branch. Since its beginnings, Carrasco has always kept high quality and reliability levels, reaching to very distant markets with highly standardized products, positioning our meat processing company as a referral among the international meat commerce.
In an area of 7.7 hectares, at 16 km from the Port of Montevideo and 5 km from the Internacional Airport of Carrasco, our packaging plant can be considered a privileged logistics center. In its facilities which cover an area of more than 15.000m², it has a daily slaughtering and deboning capacity of 1.200 cattle heads and 4.500 ovine heads, as well as the authorization to export to the most demanding markets, chilled and frozen beef, offals and by-products.
Our company assures the quality in the whole production process in order to be up to the highest standards demanded by the different countries and customers. We have BRC certification and we work under the HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point), together with the basic pre-requirements needed for the system’s correct development such as the Standard Sanitary Operation Procedures (SSOP), the Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Animal Welfare. These controls let us achieve the standards required by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) and the European Union (EU), among others.
The preservation of the environment is one of our company’s most important concerns. To work towards that commitment, we apply a sophisticated effluent treatment with high-level controls such as the DBO5, DQO, oils and fat percentage in wastewaters, meeting the requirements of the Ministry of Environment. These treatments are focused on the highest standards in environmental quality, using top-of-the-line technology, with permanent renovation in order to achieve maximum effectiveness in the preservation of the plant's surrounding environment.
